A New Era Begins
Since the early 19th century, Gallet has equipped those who dared to venture beyond—explorers mapping the unknown, aviators chasing new horizons, and travelers crossing continents. Established in 1826 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Julien Gallet, the brand became synonymous with precision and adventure, crafting timepieces designed for professionals on the move.
Now, exactly two centuries later, Gallet is set to make a bold return in 2026—this time, backed by Breitling. As it prepares for this new chapter, the brand carries forward its enduring legacy of precision, innovation, and exploration that continues to shape the future of watchmaking.

Legacy in Motion
Originally a watch-trading business, Gallet quickly evolved into a manufacturer of high-performance chronographs for aviation, motorsport, and professional use. A pivotal year for the company was 1907, when the brand acquired the watch manufacturer Société d’Horlogerie Electa—forming “Fabrique d’Horlogerie Electa, Gallet & Co.” This partnership fueled significant technical advancements and laid the foundation for a series of innovative watch designs.
Meanwhile, the MultiChron series, launched in 1938, was built for professionals navigating extreme conditions. Among its most famous models was the MultiChron Clamshell, one of the first waterproof chronographs, designed to withstand dust, humidity and heavy rain—ideal for speedboat racing, off-road expeditions, and high-intensity sports. From transcontinental voyages to rugged off-road races, Gallet watches have long been the trusted companions of those who answer the call of exploration.
The Road Ahead
Breitling and Gallet share deep roots in the world of watchmaking, having both played pivotal roles in the advancement of professional timekeeping. Now, under the Breitling banner, Gallet will retain its distinct identity while benefiting from the same standards and craftsmanship that define Breitling. Gallet’s return marks a commitment to heritage, quality, and the spirit of adventure—built for those who live by their own compass.
